Case review: filter and select documents

Written by amaise Support

In the document list, you have various filter and selection options to quickly find the relevant documents.

Filter by dossier

In the Dossiers section in the left sidebar, you can filter by case structure:

  • Click on a dossier (e.g., "Own cases") to show only its documents

  • The number of documents per dossier is shown as a badge

  • Hold Ctrl or Shift to select multiple dossiers at once

Filter by document type

The Document types section shows all recognized types hierarchically:

  • Click on a document type to filter by it

  • Parent categories (e.g., "Medical") group all subtypes together

  • Hidden types can be shown via the "Show all" link

  • Use the search (magnifying glass icon) to find a specific document type

  • Hold Ctrl or Shift to select multiple document types at once

Filter by labels

In the Labels section, you can filter by manually assigned labels. All labels present in the case are listed here.

Additionally, two special filters are available in the labels panel (above the labels):

  • With duplicates — shows documents with detected duplicates

  • Trash — shows deleted documents

Filter by sender/recipient

The Sender/Recipient filter in the filter bar lets you narrow documents by sender, sender’s company, recipient, or recipient’s company.

Filter by favorites

The Favorites filter lets you display only the documents you have marked with a star as favorites.

Filter by source file

Sometimes you're not looking for a single document but for all the documents that come from the same source file. You have two ways to do this:

  • From the search bar — Type the source file's name into the search bar. The search also matches documents by their source file and shows only the matching documents.

  • From the file manager — Open the file manager, search there by file name or ID, and on the source file you want, choose the "Show documents in the document list" action. The document list is then narrowed to that source file's documents.

Combine filters

All filters can be combined. Active filters appear above the document list and can be removed individually.

Note: If a filter matches only a document that's hidden as a duplicate behind another one, the corresponding original document appears with a "Match in duplicate" marker. This keeps a hidden document findable — see the article Doc Study: Duplicate Detection for more.

Select documents

To select documents, first activate selection mode:

  1. Click the "..." menu above the document list

  2. Choose "Select documents"

  3. Checkboxes appear next to each document — select the desired documents individually

In selection mode, you can then apply actions to the selected documents (e.g., export).
